Christmas and the new year!

I hope you all had a very Merry Christmas! I did. We went to my grandma and grandpa's house on Christmas Day and had Christmas here with all my siblings on Sunday. I got a lot of things I can use and put away for after I am married. I don't really want to list them all. A few of the things I got are: pans, slippers, mugs and Scrabble.
I made a Civil War apron for my sister-in-law and a Civil War dress for my niece here are a few pictures.
The Front
The Back
I also made a matching bonnet. I made it out of flannel. I piped the neck, waist band top and bottom, and the cuffs. I hope you enjoy the pictures.

The new year will soon be here! It seem every year there is mixed feelings as we welcome in the new year and say good-bye to the last one. I pray that you are all blessed in the coming year!
Bye for now and I will write again in the new year!

Christmas!!

I was just reading a friends blog and I thought maybe I should write about Christmas also. Christmas is coming soon and it is not all about the presents and Santa Claus it is about the birth of Christ and humbling himself to be born in a manger which is an animal food dish. We need to always remember all year long.
Have any of you heard of the book "In Search of the True Spirit of Christmas" written by Dan Schaeffer? We have been reading it at a family. It is a very good book about the true meaning of Christmas. We were reading about Him being born in a stable with animals. One thing he mentions is that nobody was allowed to see an infant prince unless you were important but being born in a stable anyone could come and see Him. Are any of you reading a special book about Christmas?
Silent Night
Silent night! holy night! all is calm, all is bright round yon virgin mother and child, Holy infant, so tender and mild Sleep in heavenly peace, Sleep in heavenly peace.
Silent night! holy night! Shepherds quake at the sight; Glories stream from heaven afar, Heavenly hosta sing alleluia! Christ the Savior is born! Christ the Savior is born!
Silent night! holy night! Son of God, loves pure light Radient beams from thy holy face With the dawn of redeeming grace Jesus, Lord at thy birth, Jesus, Lord at thy birth.

There is a lot of snow outside and we have the fire in the wood burner is going well and we are keeping warm. I am glad that God made snow to go along with the cold. I am just praying that if you have to drive stay safe. In christ,

Sunshine and sewing

I am so busy with sewing, I am making myself a Civil War Ball gown and making a work dress for somebody else it is a lot of work sometimes to keep sewing.

It has been very sunny the last few days and I love being outside. last weekend we had a Civil War event called "Spring into the Past". It was a all day Saturday and Sunday afternoon event, not a camping event. It was in Lowell, MI. At Historic Alton Bible Church. It was a very nice weekend.

Bye for Now!

Regency Dress Take One

Here is my first regency dress. I love how it turned out! It didn't take long to make at all. I cut it out one day and sewed it the next.
I will soon post pictures of my next one and maybe my Civil War Toddler dress I made.

Pray, Pray, Pray

I have been thinking a lot lately and I realize how much we need to pray, pray for our country, our jobs, our familys, just about everything God knows everything but we do not. We need to pray for us not for Him. Praying about things helps me. When we are upset we should pray before we get mad we should pray and not get mad. God is there to help you, all you need to do is ask.

I just thought about this as I am going though a lot of different feelings about a lot of things.
I hope whoever reads this realizes I am not perfect but I know when I need something, Peace, Joy, Love for others. I go to my knees.

I don't know how many of you have watched the movie Fireproof but if you haven't you should. It came out last Tuesday, it is a story about a fireman whos motto is "never leave you partner behind" but while he is out fighting fires his marriage is falling apart. He thinks it is all his wife fault but is not. Please watch if you haven't.
