1890's Blouse and Skirt

I did it, I finished my 1890's Blouse and Skirt! I started this project in April. I need to work faster. I finished it in June. I showed them in the fair and got an Outstanding on the blouse!!
The Gibson Girl blouse.
The front is gathered into a yolk, it has sleeves that are 3/4 legth and gather into the cuff.
The back also has a yolk and buttons down it. ( I only made real button holes for 4 of the buttons the other ones are just sewn on.) It also has a tie around the waist. The blouse is made out of 1 1/2 yards of a calico print.
The Circular Bell skirt. The front of the skirt.

It is longer in the back and pleated into the waist band to fit. I used a Brown twill and lined it with cotton. The skirt had about 5-6 yards of fabric plus it is fully lined!
I think of Anne of Green Gables when I see this outfit!
I am hoping to wear it this fall. It is very warm for the summer.

My sock monkey

Here is my first sock monkey, he turned out kind of funky!
What do you think?
He was fun to make though.

I am sorry I haven't posted anything in a while. I have been very busy and I just found out that my sweeties training is longer then he was told. I know that God is faithful and he will show us the way, we just need to trust him!

Beauty

I saw a beautiful sunset on Thursday evening. It had been raining most of the day and cleared enough for a sunset. It is amazing the sky after rain! It made me think of the beauty of the Lord!

"And let the beauty of the LORD our God be upon us." Psalm 90:17a

Easter!

I had very good Easter and trust you did as well. We went to church and were blessed with a wonderful cantata about Christ death and Resurrection. Then we went to my grandparents home for dinner. In the evening we went to a different church and heard a different cantata this one about letting Christ Resurrection live through you. Afterwards I went for a walk with my sweety and my parents. It was nice and then it started to rain. I was truly blessed and I pray that you were. Christ is risen!

Spring!

I have to apologize for not posting anything about the wedding lately. Unfortunately I haven't really worked on much to put on here. I did a practice bodice to try the neckline but it didn't look very nice. I will try to post more soon!

Spring is coming soon! We have been having beautiful weather around here! Sunshine and in the 40s-50s, I love it. It looks like rain today though, so I guess the sun is gone for now!

We have been taking walks every day and it is awesome to see the changing seasons. The snow is melting and flowers will soon be coming up! God is so awesome, he created the world just by speaking and so we don't get bored with the weather he keeps changing it.

Praise God for everything!

For great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised:
and also to be feared above all gods.
1 Chronicles 16:25

Chocolate-peanut butter dream bars

I made this recipe last week and thought I would share it with you.

Makes 25 squares Prep 10 Minutes

Bake for 42 Minutes

Refrigerate for at least 2 hours

Ingredients:
1/4 Cup of graham cracker crumbs, 2 TBS of granulated sugar, 3 TBS of unsalted butter, melted
1 box of brownie mix (or I made a batch of brownies for a 9x9 pan.) , 1/2 cup of chopped dry roasted peanuts, 4 ounces of cream cheese, 1/2 cup of creamy peanut butter, 1/2 cup of confectioners sugar, 3 TBS of milk, 1 1/2 cups of heavy whipping cream, 1 TBS of light corn syrup, 1/4 cup of semisweet chocolate chips and Whipped cream, chopped peanuts, peanut butter cups and caramel sauce to garnish.
1. Heat oven to 350 degrees. spray a 9-inch square baking pan with non-stick spray. Line pan with foil, allowing sides to over hang; spray foil. In a small bowl, combine graham cracker crumbs and granulated sugar. Mix in melted butter. Press crumb mixture into prepared pan. Bake until golden, about 5 to 7 minutes. Cool on wire rack.
2. prepare brownie mix according to directions for a cake like brownies. Fold in chopped nuts. Pour batter into crust-lined pan. Return to 350 degree oven; bake until brownie is just set and a toothpick inserted in center comes out clean, 30-35 minutes. Cool completely in pan on wire rack.
3. With electric mixer in medium bowl, beat cream cheese until smooth. Add peanut butter and confectioners' sugar; beat until just blended ( it will look lumpy). Add milk; beat lightly to loosen mixture. In separate bowl whip one cup of the whipping cream and gently fold into peanut butter mixture. Spread mousse evenly over cooled brownie. Refrigerate for 1 hour.
4. Heat remaining 1/2 cup cream in a small sauce pan over medium heat until just boiling. Remove from heat and add chocolate chips and corn syrup. Cover and let stand for 5 minutes. stir until smooth. Pour glaze over chilled mousse and spread to cover completely. Return to refrigerator for at least 1 hour.
5. Run a small knife around inside of pan and lift out brownie. Heat knife under hot running water and trim edges. Slice brownie, rinsing knife after each cut, into 5 strips about 1 1/2 inches wide. Cut each strip into 5 pieces about 1 1/2 inches square. Transfer to serving plate and garnish with whipped cream, nuts, candy and caramel sauce.
Sorry, I really haven't sewn more on my gown. I will post some more later.

Snow!

The snow is so beautiful! God knew what he was doing when he created snow. It is cold but it looks so nice. Just go outside for 10 minutes and just look at the beauty around you! God created it all!
Here is a red rose,I put it outside to take the picture. I love the contrast between the white and red.
Remember to take time for God, sometimes the perfect place is outside.

The New Year !

Here it is the 7th of January 2010. The holidays are over and everyone is getting back to "normal". Work, school, and other everyday things. In the coming year let us strive to please God and trust in him always.
I was reminded last night when my dad read devotions that God is in the small things and we always need his help. Even when we think we have it covered. The story was about a guy driving in a snow storm. When turning on his street said "Thanks God for your help but I think I can take it from here" as soon as he said that the car span out. He thought he was good and could do it alone but you can't. God is always with you and waiting for you to call upon him.
I will write again soon!
